Centering

Coach Thorsted

Instead of trying to be right, try to do what is right.

I think of families and friendships in terms of concentric circles. All of your circles are important, but the people in the inner rings are the closest to your core.

My goal for each of my basketball teams is for my players to build meaningful friendships and lasting memories… Mission accomplished.

The original “Jimmy Buckets” is Jimmy Chitwood.

When I say lay-ups only and you shoot a 3, if the ball goes in, you are forgiven of your sin. You take it, you make it.

Adversity in sports is not real adversity, but it does offer great practice for overcoming the real adversity you will encounter in real life.

Play to the rhythm of the game.

When something happens externally, consider what you can internally learn from it.

Whatever you do and however you do it, know that you are always on your spiritual path. Remember, everything is part of the path. Remember, everything is sacred.

You can see life as empty and unfulfilling, as barren pages in a closed book, or… you can choose to see each new moment as an empty page, an empty page in an open book, a book full of pages and pages that are just waiting to be filled with life.
