Purpose and Public Journaling

by Coach Thorsted on December 21, 2023

The original purpose of this blog was for it to be a place for me to write down my life lessons and wisdom for my children, my basketball players, my students, my family, my friends, and for anyone else who might find value in what I have to share. More than anything, I want my children to be able to always access my guidance, especially when I can’t be there for them in-person.

Unintentionally, the blog has become a form of public journaling for me, and I am finding value in that, too. While I plan to continue to live out loud and write whatever comes to me in the moment, I want to make sure I get as many of my life lessons and as much of my wisdom out there as I can. I want my children, basketball players, and students to always have a place where they can access my guidance, if they want it. I want to fulfill this blog’s original purpose.

For the most part, I want to keep my written lessons, wisdom, and guidance short and simple. So, many of my upcoming posts may only include a title (which will usually be one of the many pithy sayings that I often speak in) but no body of text. I can always go back and add to each post later on if I feel more needs to be said. What if I die tomorrow (see yesterday’s post), though? I’ll be happy that I put my lessons and wisdom out there today. Win the next play!

We only get to live this life once so I feel we should try to be the best we can be; for our children, family, friends, co-workers, neighbors. Life is short; I truly know that from the loss of family members whose life was cut way too soon. Enjoy the gift of life!

I couldn’t agree more. Thank you for the wisdom you have shared with me in my life, Diane.
